This woolen pouf is made from the traditional apron or "pangden" worn daily by married women in Tibet and some parts of Nepal.
It is hand woven in mountainous villages by women in their own homes on portable looms that produce strips that are only 20 cm wide.
Individual families weave their own variations of colours and stripe widths. Hand embroidered appliques are often stitched on the woven fabric as an added stylish feature.
